Dr. Vidya P. Kini, M.D. introduced the specialty of PM& R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) to Lee County in 1989.
Born in India, Dr. Kini, received her medical training from Lady Harding medical College, New Delhi India. She finished a postgraduate degree in pediatrics during which she was involved in treating children inflicted with Poliomyelitis. This peaked her interest in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a specialty that treats persons with physical disabilities.
After completing her internal medicine at Wayne State University, Michigan she went on to a 4-year residency program and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where she served as a chief resident in her last year of training. Dr. Kini is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine
Dr. Kini ‘s areas of interest includes electrodiagnosis (EMG and NCV), post stroke rehabilitation, rehabilitation after amputation, spinal cord injury and gait disorders.
She specializes in Botox treatment of Migraines ,spasm of muscles in various conditions like , spinal cord injury, head injury, post stroke spasm of muscles, torticollis (head tilt or turning) and prescription of prosthetics and orthotics (artificial limbs and braces)
In summation, Dr. Kini focuses on the whole individual to improve their overall physical function.
