Had a total knee replacement on my left knee in July 2023,and my right knee in late August 2023.am very satisfied,was not nearly as bad as I was expecting.DR. Gardner was excellent,he gave me all the time I needed,and explained everything ,and answered all my questions.I’m a golfer and was unable to bend over to take my ball out of the cup my wife had to get it out for me,now I can get it out myself.i can also now walk 45 minutes daily without any discomfort in my knees. I’m 80 years old and my 2 TKR have greatly improved my quality of life. Also had physical therapy at Gardner orthopedics and they were also very professional.
Today was my 3 month post-op with Dr. Patel for a hip replacement. My experience with Dr. Patel from the very first visit until now has been beyond exceptional. During my first visit I remember Dr. Patel say to me “trust me” because he knew how scared I was of the thought of having a hip replacement and why it had taken me over two years to make the decision to have it done. Here I am 4 months later since the first visit with Dr. Patel and I’m living my best life pain free and able to walk (almost cane free). Thank you Dr. Patel for changing my life. You have no idea how much you have assisted in changing my life.
After years of running, basketball, tennis and every other sport my knees were aching to the point I was in pain even while asleep. Several arthroscopic surgeries were helpful and lasted until I was 69 years of age.
I had a shoulder surgery at Gardner Orthopedics done by Dr. Martinez and that’s where I met Dr. Gardner. After several knee injections it became apparent that the pain relief would be short lived. Dr. Gardner performed total knee replacement on my right knee and ten months later replaced my left knee. This is major surgery and wasn’t much fun nor was the rehab. But the results were worth it. I am back on the tennis courts pain free. I can sleep pain free. Dr. Gardner and his staff spent time with me explaining pre-surgery, the surgery itself and post surgery considerations. This was a quality of life issue for me and I have absolutely no regrets with my care provided by Gardner Orthopedics.
Dr Patel did a total replacement on my right hip. Can’t say enough. I was back to myself in 2 weeks, by 6 weeks I was doing everything I have missed out for the past 2 yrs. He did the Anterior approach. No stitches or staples, he messed glued it. I have a tiny 3” scar that is going way. Should have done it sooner, go see Dr Patel, and you will be glad you did.
This is the best orthopedic practice in the area. Dr. Gardner is awesome. Takes the time to listen and really cares. He did a knee revision after diagnosing that I was allergic to a knee put in by another doc. Also Dr. Castellano fixed the tendon in my foot. Would not go anywhere else but here!!!
Dr. Gardner did a total knee replacement for me in May of 2023 and i could not be more happy with the results. His staff is very friendly and informative from beginning to end. I am an avid golfer and was playing full rounds in 8 weeks after the surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Gardner and his team.
Having been a seasonal patient here for 5 or 6 years, I wanted to write a review because I am continuously surprised by the entire staff. From the doctors (ALL excellent) to the receptionists (esp Leah & Adrianna 😉) I have yet to encounter an unpleasant or unprofessional person.
At my age (72) I’ve been to dozens of medical facilities. To be consistently impressed with one deserves recognition. It is a pleasure to sing the praises of this organization. Congratulations Gardner Family.
I have great bones but disintegrating joints and was in chronic pain 24/7 for almost 3 years. No sleep, no life; just existing! Dr. Gardner replaced my right knee in May 2023 at RiverWalk Surgery Center. Dr. Gardner and his PA’s, MA’s and staff rock. Dr. Gardner truly cares about you as a patient and spends the time needed to answer all questions. I 100% recommend Dr. Gardner.
My scar is beautiful but rehab was hindered by my right hip pain.
In comes Dr. Patel to the rescue! April 3, 2024 Dr. Patel replaced my right hip and gave me my life back. Dr. Patel is caring, a great listener and a straight shooter. Dr. Patel is honest and tells you like it is. I can’t wait to have my left hip replaced by Dr. Patel before the end of the year. I think that says something right there.
Needless to say, both Dr. Gardner and Dr. Patel are my heroes and I recommend and trust them emphatically.
On December 28, 2023 I found a great gift under the tree. A total reverse shoulder from Dr. Robert Martinez. My pain had become a quality of life issue that cortisone could no longer alleviate. I was familiar with the procedure since he had done the exact same procedure for my wife two years prior. Dr. Martinez’ surgical skills are A+, and his patient care skills off the charts. Surgery was about three hours and I was in my room at Lee Memorial by two o’clock and by five o’clock Dr. Martinez was standing next to my bed asking, “How’s it going Mr. C”? “Fine, doc.” “I left orders for pain medication.” “No problem. I’m taking Tylenol for a headache. Other than that, I’m feeling ok.” “I’ll see you in 12 days to check on your progress. Take a shower in a couple days but wrap your shoulder in plastic.” I had already ordered a pack of arm length plastic gloves to protect it. It’s the same ones you see the animal vets use to check cows for pregnancy. Had to sleep for 6 weeks with a sling which prevented me (side sleeper) from assuming my usual position. Then, I went for the 6-week follow up and he said. “Are you ready for the hard part?”
“Hard part?” “Yes, 6 weeks of physical therapy, twice a week. They’re right next door so I can keep an eye on you.” He was right. The PT (and my PT homework) definitely worked up a sweat. The surgery went fine, but I couldn’t raise my right arm to comb my hair, adjust the shower, shave, tie my shoes, put on socks, etc. Fortunately, my wife of 56 year was there to take care of me. He told her, “If he doesn’t do his PT homework, you have a wooden spoon?” Couldn’t fool her because she had to do the same PT homework two years earlier. When I was waiting to be called in for my PT appointment he would pop out of his office to stop by to see how I was doing. When I finished my 7 weeks of PT he checked me out to see my progress. Push his hands down, up, to the side, raise my hand above my head, touch the back of my head, etc. I passed. Then I got a 4-week golf PT instruction sheet. M-W-F for four weeks. Chip and putt for 10 minutes, rest 10 minutes, repeat. I wanted to see how I would feel the next day. No problem and it went that way the whole time. He and I are golfers so we talked a lot about when I could get back to playing. “Will I be able to play golf again”? “Were you able to play before surgery”? Oh yeah, I forgot one other mandatory patient skill he has…….HUMOR!
Dr. Ronald Gardner is the best. Back in 2018 I had both my knees replaced and five years later I have no pain nor medication. I can line dance and work out at the gym with no problems.
From day one, I was extremely impressed with the practice. Obviously everyone is well trained, caring and professional. I highly recommend Gardner Orthopedics!
My son saw Dr. Patel for his broken wrist. We are very pleased. Doctor and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Appointments have been timely.
I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Dupay. I followed him to Gardner Orthopedics after being a highly satisfied patient of his at Orthopedic Associates. He is wonderful with his patients, takes the time to explain why things are happening and answers all questions. The x-ray technician he brought with him –; Gerry – is a fine young man and will do well in everything he aspires to in the future. The entire staff that works with Dr. Dupay is to be commended for their attention to detail, follow-up, and pleasantness.
I had a total knee done last May by Dr Gardner. He and his staff are wonderful. I was hiking in the mountains of NC 6 weeks after. Yes it was painful but so worth it. I can’t compliment this practice enough. They are simply the best.
Recently, Dr. Gardner did a Total Knee Replacement surgery on me with excellent results. Everyone at Gardner was professional, caring and more importantly they all evidenced competence, which seems to be rare these days. As an RN with a masters in nursing I can say I checked out various orthopedists from Fort Myers to Naples and determined Dr. Gardner was the surgeon for me. He is caring, kind and highly skilled as a surgeon.

I highly recommend Dr Van Heerden; She is a doctor who is very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and skilled, but also very caring.
Dr. Van Heerden is a great surgeon who explained in detail what had to be done, using my X-rays to make it easier to understand and answered all of my questions.
On the evening prior to my surgery, Dr Van Heerden contacted me to review one more time the procedure and make me feel good. Pre- and Post-Surgery, Dr Van Heerden came to talk to me. During the post op follow up, Dr Van Heerden took the necessary time to review my wounds and answer questions.
This was the first time that a doctor reached out herself over and over, to make sure I was fine. Dr. Van Heerden is the best!
Dr. Hodge is a great surgeon
I’m 91 years old and had a hip replacement. The operation was successful and almost pain free.
His follow-up program could not have been better. I’m now going back to the health club 3 times a week.
He’s not only a great surgeon but he has a good personality to go with it.
I cannot say enough good things about him.
